Exchange program encourages sharing of artwork and techniques

Missouri State University’s Department of Art and Design recently welcomed two students from the Graduate Institute of Applied Arts at Tainan National University of the Arts (TNUA) in Taiwan as part of an exchange program that has continued for nearly twenty years.

During the Spring 2023 semester, students Hsien-Tse Chen and Yi-Hung Hsieh worked alongside fellow art and design students and shared their techniques in ceramics and metals.

Department of Languages, Cultures and Religions marks successful Summer Visit Day

Representatives from the Reynolds College’s Department of Languages, Cultures and Religions (LCR) enjoyed greeting several prospective students during Missouri State University’s Summer Visit Day July 21, 2023.

Dr. Stephen Berkwitz, department head, and instructor of Spanish Melanie Kleeschulte visited with nearly two dozen students during the event.

Defense and Strategic Studies honors 25 new graduates at spring commencement

Fallert awarded competitive museum internship

Missouri State University student Jenna Fallert, a double major in museum studies and art history and visual culture, was awarded a competitive, paid summer museum internship from the Institute of American Indian Arts Museum of Contemporary Native Arts (IAIA-MoCNA) in Santa Fe, New Mexico. The six-week internship program is offered through the Sealaska Heritage Institute partnership of the University of Alaska Southeast and the Institute of American Indian Arts in New Mexico.

Allen photographs featured in juried exhibition

Associate Professor Jimmie Allen’s photographic work has been selected for inclusion in “Exposure 2023” at the Photographic Resource Center in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The exhibit was juried from an international pool of artists from an open call. Allen was one of ten artists chosen from over 160 submissions, and of the five works Allen entered, four were accepted into the show. [Read more…] about Allen photographs featured in juried exhibition
