2013-14 COB Scholarship Banquet
The College of Business is dedicated to highlighting the hard work of its students. Each fall, the COB Scholarship banquet is held to honor student achievement. The 2013-14 Banquet, held Sept. 27 at the University Plaza Hotel, showcased the high level of academic achievement among College of Business Students.
At this year’s event, 170 scholarships totaling more than $200,000 were awarded. Family, friends, faculty, staff and many generous donors from across the country attended the event. The COB is very grateful to have such generous donors and appreciates the support they provide to so many students.

The annual COB Golden Bear was also presented at the banquet. Ken Meyer, a 1950 alumnus of MSU, was this year’s honoree. Meyer is founder and CEO of Meyer Communications, which operates several radio stations in the Southwest Missouri area, and owner of Meyer Farms. Meyer has served on many philanthropic boards over the years, including leading the university’s first capital campaign in the 1980’s.
Meyer and his late wife, Jane, have always supported higher education. The Meyers have given to many of the university’s programs and departments, including the College of Business, athletics, band, Tent Theatre, the Department of Music, University Advancement, Alumni and Development, the Department of Hospitality and Restaurant Administration, scholarships, professorships and the Juanita K. Hammons Hall for the Performing Arts. In recognition of their generosity, the Kenneth E. Meyer Alumni Center and the Jane A. Meyer Carillon were named in their honor.
Meyer is a member of the College of Business Executive Advisory Council. He received the Missouri State Outstanding Alumni Award in 1985 and the Bronze Bear, the University’s highest honor, in 2004. He has also been recognized by the Missouri House of Representatives as the Outstanding Missourian Award recipient in 2005.
Congratulations to Mr. Meyer and the most recent College of Business Scholarship recipients!
