August 22, 2023 by Shania Dedigama

FBLA-Collegiate is a nonprofit educational association dedicated to inspiring and developing the next generation of business leaders by preparing members for their careers and professional development. The organization centers itself around leadership conferences, state and national competitions with categories ranging from statistical analysis to public speaking and everything in between.

Faculty advisor Courtney Pham.

Faculty advisor, Courtney Pham, FBLA-Collegiate sponsor, recently took our Missouri State University chapter to the 2023 NLC (National Leadership Conference) held in Atlanta. This year’s competition lasted a total of four days – June 22-25, 2023.

There was a total of 25 attendees from Missouri in comparison to the 900+ attendees and 150+ from across the world. Missouri State’s FBLA chapter received fifth place for the Outstanding Chapter Award out of 150 other chapters. This award highlights our chapter for their overall exceptional performance.

Missouri State’s FBLA chapter had four attendees place in the Top 10.

On behalf of the marketing department, we would like to congratulate:

  • Spencer Ingram (first place in Information Management).
  • Madison Agee (second place in Entrepreneurship Concepts).
  • Bethany Sluder and Ingram (fourth place in Emerging Business Issues).
  • Agee (10th place in Retail Management).
  • Madelynn Jared (10th place in Sales Presentation).

Each placement in the Top 3 earned a cash prize. First place received $425; second place received $275; and third place received $125. Missouri brought home a grand total of $3,625.

Dr. Ismet Anitsal, department head of marketing at MSU shares, “I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all our FBLA student competitors who participated in the 2023 National Leadership Conference held in Atlanta. I would also like to express our gratitude to Courtney Pham, faculty advisor, for sharing the exciting news about our FBLA chapter’s recognition and the remarkable achievements of our individual students.”

Pham adds, “One of the reasons we were awarded one of the Top Ten Outstanding Chapters at the NLC is the administrative support at the departmental and college levels at Missouri State. We are very lucky to be in the College of Business, which hosts multiple events to help our chapter recruiting great members.”

The Marketing Department would like to congratulate MSU FBLA Chapter once again on these amazing accomplishments. We are excited to see what you all do at next year’s conference in Orlando.
