The Union Update: Panda Express Rumored to be Opening in Late October by The First Week of November

The long awaited Panda Express is almost ready to be opened!!! There is a rumor floating around that Panda Express will be opening between the last week of October and the first week of November, so get your chop sticks ready and your taste buds prepared to be tantalized by the only Panda Express in the Springfield Area!

Otherwise in the Union, the Center for Leadership and Volunteerism offices are nearing completion as well. Below is a photo of the office, from the outside perspective.

Here’s the story line of “Amreeka”:

“Muna, a single mother in Ramallah, has applied for a visa to the US. When it comes, her son Fadi, an excellent student, convinces her they should go. After an incident at customs begins their exile badly, they join Muna’s sister and family in Illinois. Muna needs a job: although she has two degrees and 15 years’ experience in banking, she settles for work at White Castle, telling the family her job’s at a nearby bank. It’s spring, 2003, and the US invades Iraq. While friends come from unlikely places, Fadi meets prejudice at school. How he’ll respond to it and to American youth culture and how Muna will sort things out with her family are the rest of the story. Tragedy or hope?” – IMDB

Bears Set to Take on No. 22 Kansas State in Season Opener! Can you believe it? The bears are heading up to Manhattan this weekend to take on the famous Kansas State Wildcats for the third time. It’s a very big game and what a way to start things off! Go Bears! Have strength guys, play hard and represent Missouri State University well!

Men’s Soccer Earns First Victory of 2012, Shuts Out UMKC 3-0

This was quite a victor for the Bears as all three goals were scored in the first half of the games. Way to go guys! Keep it up! It’s going to be a great season for the Bears!

Bears Volleyball to Open Busy Home Season with University Plaza Invitational

The Bears Volleyball team will be facing off against numerous opponents this Labor Day weekend at home so please make sure to attend and root them on to victory!

On Wednesday at 9:00 pm in the new Bill R. Foster Recreation Center SAC is featuring the first ever Dive In Movie at the pool and the feature film will be JAWS.

Here is a short review of the Classic from Rotten Tomatoes:

“Based on Peter Benchley’s best-selling novel, Steven Spielberg’s 1975 shark saga set the standard for the New Hollywood popcorn blockbuster while frightening millions of moviegoers out of the water. One early summer night on fictional Atlantic resort Amity Island, Chrissie decides to take a moonlight skinny dip while her friends party on the beach. Yanked suddenly below the ocean surface, she never returns. When pieces of her wash ashore, Police Chief Brody (Roy Scheider) suspects the worst, but Mayor Vaughn (Murray Hamilton), mindful of the lucrative tourist trade and the approaching July 4th holiday, refuses to put the island on a business-killing shark alert. After the shark dines on a few more victims, the Mayor orders the local fishermen to catch the culprit. Satisfied with the shark they find, the greedy Mayor reopens the beaches, despite the warning from visiting ichthyologist Hooper (Richard Dreyfuss) that the attacks were probably caused by a far more formidable Great White.
