MSU Dental Benefits Overview

MSU offers dental benefits to help employees, and their dependents maintain oral health:

• Preventative Care: 100% coverage with no deductible.
• Yearly Benefit Maximum: $3000 for all dental services combined per person per calendar year.
• Orthodontia: 50% of eligible charges for dependents under 19, up to $3000 (no life time benefit maximum). Separate deductible: $50 individual / $150 family.
• Implants: 50% of covered charges, up to $3000. Separate deductible: $50 individual / $150 family.
• General Dental Deductible: $50 individual / $150 family (for all services except orthodontia and implants).

Save more by choosing an direct contract or in-network dental PPO participating provider and take advantage of contracted discounts. Out-of-network providers reimburse based on usual and customary allowances.

Medical Plan

Dental services are generally excluded under the medical plan, but certain procedures requiring anesthesia in a hospital setting may be covered for children under 5, the severely disabled, or those with medical conditions.

Flex Spending

Employees enrolled in the Cafeteria/Flex Spending Plan can use pre-tax funds for dental-related expenses. Be sure to submit claims for 2024 funds by the Grace period deadline.

Accident Plan

Dental exams may be reimbursed under the Allstate Accident Plan, even if unrelated to an accident. Employees enrolled in the plan can file a claim and receive reimbursement of $50/$75 (based on plan option) for physician treatment.

Enrollment

You can make changes during open enrollment (Nov 1 – Dec 1) or within 31 days of a qualifying event.
