Outstanding Seniors

November 11, 2014 by Natalie Allen

seniorsThe MSU dietetics program held their annual Senior Banquet on November 5 at the Tower Club at University Plaza.  Dr. Jenifer Roberts, from the MSU Fashion and Interior Design department, was a guest speaker discussing etiquette and how to prepare for a business dinner.  We have 30 students who will graduate in Fall 2014 and Spring 2015.  At the banquet, all seniors were honored for their achievements.

Awards for senior presentation night were given, chosen by faculty, to the following students:

Best overall presentation: Sheri Nally and Jocelyn Wombles, “Ketogenic Diet and Cancer”

Most interesting presentation: Courtney Schneider and Sandra Pierce, “Health Claims of Apple Cider Vinegar”

People’s choice: Lizzy Nixon and Amy Richter, “Low FODMAP Diet and IBS”

Best research: Nicole Terry and Hannah Garrad, “Focus on Flora”

Best presenter: Courtney Schneider

Most improved presenter: Kim Boyer

Students who exemplified the Missouri State mission of Public Affairs were also recognized:

Cultural competence: LeAnn Robley

Ethical leadership: Kelly Buxman

Community engagement: Liz Mergenthaler

Citizen scholar nominee: Haley Nagel

The Crystal Pummill scholarship was given to Amy Richter, the senior dietetics major graduating with the highest overall GPA.

Congrats to all of our seniors! We have another great class and we look forward to hearing about their achievements in the field of dietetics.
