In early October the Missouri State Dietetic Interns made a trip to the annual Food and Nutrition Conference and Expo (FNCE) sponsored by the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics (AND). Registered dietitians, dietetics students, dietetic interns, and other health professionals nationwide flocked to Nashville, Tennessee for the conference. There were over 10,000 in attendance including the MSU Dietetic Interns!
Ten Things Learned While at FNCE:
1. Evaluated the newest food and nutrition research.
2. Perused/ate our way through the nutrition expo: It included free food (to take and to try), free resources, and much more.
3. Reconnected with friends/dietitians/professors.
4. Networked with other dietitians.
5. Took selfies with varies fruits and vegetables and posted on social media. (#FNCE)
6. Put our name in for drawings: Tiffany necklaces, fitbits, purses, a basket full of potato related items, one bag of every type of salad a company makes… you name it!
7. Explored a new city: Nashville is full of live music and is rich in history!
8. Took action: While at the conference we were able to send an alert to our State representatives on a food or nutrition related issue.
9. Met the President of the Academy and the CEO of the Academy.
10. Won a school spirit award for MSU’s Dietetic Internship!
