Protect Your Eyes and Save
March is National Save Your Vision Month—an opportunity to focus on the importance of eye health and the steps we can take to protect our vision. At Missouri State University, we offer a range of resources to help you maintain eye health and save on vision-related expenses.
MSU Vision Plan Benefits
Full-time employees can take advantage of the MSU Vision Plan through VSP, which includes:
- Annual eye exams
- Discounts on glasses and contact lenses
- Access to a large network of providers
Exclusive VSP Discounts
VSP offers exclusive savings for MSU employees:
- Bausch + Lomb Contact Lenses: Receive up to $300 in rebates when you purchase an annual supply of eligible contact lenses from a VSP network doctor.
- Biotrue® Hydration Boost Eye Drops: Save $5 on these eye drops designed to relieve dry and irritated eyes.
- Eyewear and Lens Enhancements: Discounts on frames, lenses, and premium lens options.
Visit the VSP Special Offers page for full details.
Flex Spending for Vision-Related Expenses
Did you know that vision-related expenses can be reimbursed through your Flexible Spending Account (FSA)? Items such as glasses, contact lenses, and eye exams are eligible for reimbursement, making it easier to manage the costs of maintaining healthy vision. See list of Eligible Expenses.
Accident Insurance Reimbursement for Non-Accident Related Physician Visits
Employees enrolled in the Accident Insurance Plan can also receive reimbursement for one non-accident-related physician visit each year. This includes eye-related medical visits, providing another opportunity for you to take care of your vision without added out-of-pocket costs.
Medical Plan Coverage for Eye-Related Surgeries
MSU’s medical plan covers certain eye-related surgeries, such as cataract surgery. Basic eye services like contact lenses or glasses required after Medically necessary surgery are covered. However, please note that refractive surgery (such as LASIK) is excluded from the medical plan. For further details or preauthorization for eye-related medical services, please refer to your plan document and contact Med-Pay for additional guidance.
