Chorale at inauguration

About a year ago, Missouri State announced that its Chorale would perform at the 58th presidential inauguration.

Today, we’re sharing a behind-the-scenes look at how the marketing and communications division promoted the group’s trip and performance to Washington, D.C.

Sara Clark, director of web and new media; and Kevin Agee, new media specialist, presented on the topic Oct. 10, 2017 at the HighEdWeb annual conference in Hartford, Connecticut.

Musical theatre website showcases interdisciplinary approach

December 19, 2013 by

Muscial Theatre

The musical theatre website was redesigned as part of the Academic Website Project, which strives to enhance academic websites for use in recruitment efforts.

Muscial TheatreKey features of the newly designed website include the following:

  • Combines two departments
This program is offered jointly by the theatre and dance department and the music department. Since it would confuse students to offer a program website in both departments, a stand-alone site was developed with its own theme and content.
  • Reuses content
Many of the productions offered by this program are promoted by the theatre and dance department, so the activity stream was mirrored between the two sites.

Site credits

Several university relations offices assisted in developing this site:

  • Content: Karen Culp, publications graduate assistant
  • Design: Lindsay Thomack, Web and new media designer, and Kelly Johnson, Web and new media student designer
  • Website implementation: David Howell and Brittany Dilts, Web and new media student workers, with oversight by Sara Clark, director of Web and new media

Music library available to campus users

September 27, 2012 by

The office of web and new media has purchased the Opuzz music library for all campus users to utilize for video projects.

University use

The Opuzz music library’s licensing allows for music to be used to synchronize with video for any University-related project. The music cannot be used as a stand-alone element (such as playing the music through speakers on it’s own at an event), but it can be used as a production piece of a bigger whole.

Since this license was purchased by the University, anyone working for the University on a  University video can use the music.

Where to find tracks

The music library is housed in the office of web and new media. If you would like to use music from this library, please contact our office to arrange a time to transfer your track(s) to a hard drive or flash drive. The licensing does not allow transfer of songs over a network or server.

If you are looking for a piece of music for a project, I would suggest first searching the Opuzz website  and identifying the track you want before arriving in our office; there are about 20,000 tracks in this library and searching them in a folder view is difficult and quite time-consuming. The Opuzz website categorizes all of the music by genre and is much easier to use in your search.
