One measure of student outcomes handled by Assessment is survey data, and there are survey tools we use regularly as well as one-time surveys designed for a unique purpose. Here is an overview of the calendar year that provides examples of both:
SPRING SEMESTER
- Bears Care Student Check-In Survey: To connect students with campus resources by identifying problems associated with the move to online learning (e.g., Internet access, food/housing, counseling)
- Commencement Ceremony Participation Survey: To determine if and when graduating students would be most interested in attending a graduation ceremony in late 2020.
- Undergraduate Exit Survey*: To receive data on the MSU experience and post-graduation plans from students near completion of an undergraduate degree program, including the Public Affairs mission. Results are shared with deans, department heads, members of Assessment Council.
- Graduate College Exit Survey*: To receive data on the MSU experience and post-graduation plans from students near completion of a graduate degree program.
FALL SEMESTER
- Bears Care Student Check-In Survey (Revised): To connect students with campus resources by identifying problems associated with the move to online learning (e.g., Internet access, food/housing, counseling). Currently updating the survey to offer more specific options including tutoring, and to make the data more easily sharable.
- Commencement RSVP Survey: Given the interest in a special October ceremony for 2020 graduates and in attending a larger December ceremony, a follow-up survey was sent to respondents for responsible planning of the event.
- Athletics Department Climate Survey: Sent to student-athletes and Athletics staff to measure opinions on the climate of MSU athletics as a basis for improvement and a programming guide.
In progress.
*Conducted at the conclusion of each semester
