Are food preservatives safe to eat?

A lot of the food we consume contain food preservatives – a type of additive that helps maintain the taste, texture, nutrition and appearance of food.

What types of preservatives are there? Are they safe for you?

Natalie Allen, a registered dietitian and clinical instructor of biomedical sciences at Missouri State University, answers these questions on Livestrong.
