Katie, a Vesta practicum student working with John Avery (MSU) and Jeff Wheeler (Rend Lake), took a cluster sample of the Traminette today at approximately 1200 Growing Degree Days in order to estimate the crop in the block. Bob Schultheis, Engineering Specialist at the University Extension office in Marshfield, came up with a clever idea. His bucket irrigation method is to drill a 5/64" hole near the bottom of a 5 gallon bucket and then fill with water to irrigate.
