Gourds Planted

The station is exploring Gourds to be grown and dried for use as a value added product. On April 4 Luffa Gourd seeds were planted in the greenhouse. The luffa was planted in the High Tunnel on May 24. First Microgreens Harvested

Mushroom harvest

The oyster mushroom clump is harvested once the edge of the largest mushroom in the group changes from concavw (curling downward) to convex.

The first mushrooms were harvested yesterday, August 19. We are harvesting the clump when the edge of the largest mushroom changes from concave (curled downward) to convex (beginning to curl upward or not convex anymore). We’ve got mushrooms!

Here are the mushrooms growing out of the holes we made in the bags.

I checked the oyster mushroom bags this morning and found mushrooms coming out of the bags! I was worried earlier in the week and sent some photos to Lindsey of Field and Forest Products on Tuesday and she said that I would see them soon from the looks of it.
