At 5:23am Saturday morning the temperature dropped to 25.6 degrees F, which is a critical temperature for developing grape buds and shoots. The dew point was 21 degrees F, lower than the minimum air temperature. Many cultivars were at the stage where the first leaf was separating from the shoot or at bud burst. We sustained significant damage on all vineyards. Some cultivars like Vidal Blanc and Traminette were not as well developed as many others. We will be checking the vineyards frequently this week.
