Beth Walker and Sarah Lancaster: Aligning Student Learning in Plant and Animal Sciences with Industry Expectations
Dr. Walker is an Associate Professor and Dr. Lancaster is an Assistant Professor in the Animal Sciences program in the Department of Environmental Plant Sciences and Natural Resources. Their grant proposal, “Aligning Student Learning in Plant and Animal Sciences with Industry Expectations,” details support for a survey to provide guidance for the alignment of student learning objectives with the expectations of the plant and animal science industries. Evaluation of student work will be used to offer evidence of student learning.
Dr. Lancaster states, “I am appreciative for the assessment grant, because it provides an opportunity to ensure we are providing the best educational experience possible for our students. My collaborator, Dr. Beth Walker, and I are working to identify the knowledge, skills, and abilities our graduates need to be successful in the agricultural industry and compare them to the student learning outcomes in animal science and environmental plant sciences and natural resources.”
The Office of Assessment is happy to support the Department of Environmental Plant Sciences and Natural Resources in its efforts to provide graduates with the best possible opportunities for success by aligning student learning outcomes with industry expectations.
