Certification requirements, student teaching placements, course changes, graduate course offerings, DESE grant opportunities

Conclusions

Additional training for Cooperating Teachers as they begin to work with preservice teachers. MoPTA information for faculty to better understand what is required from students for certification. Continue to offer graduate courses and look to expand. Suggested special topics include Career Development and Entrepreneurship, Child Development, and Teaching Strategies. Take advantage of DESE grant opportunities as funds are available through MSU.

Action Items

Offer Supervision of Student Teachers course for those interested. Offer Career Development as a topic for Advanced Technical Course in the summer. Applied for Hospitality Tourism Management training grant.

Follow-up Plans

Will review summer course offerings and continue to develop more graduate courses. Attended Hospitality Tourism Management Training and received Certified Hospitality Instructor Level 1  certification.

Issues above the Department Level

Continue support for MoPTA (now MEES) certification requirements from the EPPC and DESE. Seek financial support from Deans Office for additional grant opportunities through DESE.
