In Spring 2019, Adrea Applegate Assistant Professor of Physician Assistant Studies, was awarded an Assessment Grant for her project titled Incorporating Standardized Patients into Observed Structured Clinical Exams. Her project will incorporate the use of “standardized patients” in the form of retired healthcare workers and possibly theater students. This will enhance student learning by furthering critical thinking, differential formulation, and physical exam skills in physician assistant learners by incorporating human “standardized patients” into the curriculum rather than depending on written clinical vignettes.
The Office of Assessment recognizes the efforts of the Physician Assistant Studies program, and Adrea Applegate, to improve the learning experience of Physician Assistant Studies student.
