Congratulations to Dr. Tracey Glaessgen, who has just been awarded an Assessment Grant for her project titled GEP 101 General Education Course Review and Analysis of Student Learning. Dr. Glaessgen is the Associate Director of the Center for Academic Success and Transition. When asked what contributions her work will have on enhancing student learning, Dr. Glaessgen replied, “We would like to get a small group of instructors together to talk through the course goals and student learning outcomes associated with the course. Having the opportunity to have First-Year Council members and GEP 101 instructors review course goals, General Education goals, student learning outcomes, course evaluations, and student work will provide us with valuable feedback in order to make course improvements and to increase student learning. We will also be able to compare our own first-year seminar results to the national benchmark data.” Dr. Glaessgen continues to explain, “Based upon feedback, we may make modifications to the course. Also, information gleaned from student work may be used to create common assignments for the course as a way to improve consistency.”
The Office of Assessment commends Dr. Glaessgen’s work in assessment and her dedication to student learning.
