Undergraduate Research Presentation in Hawaii – Alzheimer’s Alters Walking Gait

Last week, July 10th-15th, Whitney Schroer (CMB Undergraduate) and Renee Ehrenstrom (CMB Graduate Student) presented their work at the 2010 International Conference on Alzheimer's Disease in Honolulu, Hawaii. A recent study has shown that the common practice of giving supplemental oxygen provides no benefit to those suffering acute heart attacks and in fact may actually increase their risk for adverse outcomes. Artificial Life Produced

Craig Venter is at it again. He has published new data in Science demonstrating the viability of an artificial genome in a bacterium. The bacteria phenotype is consistent with the synthetic genome showing that the artificial DNA is directing the cell.
