Yet another freeze

April 15, 2009 by Susanne Howard

This time down to just about 30 degrees.
A few weeks ago I was comparing notes on garden developments with people from Springfield, and it seemed to be that they were always ahead of me by a week or so and I was quite frankly a bit jealous. Well, it turns out it might be a good thing to be behind sometimes, because during the previous freeze they sustained more damage than I did. So if our springs keep it up with these pronounced temperature swings and late freezes, it might be a good idea to plant in the coldest locations possible (for plants that are winterhardy of course).
