Dr. Chin-Feng Hwang has joined us this month. He came from UC Davis in California, where he was working on the genetics of resistance to the dagger nematode in grapes. His main work here will be in grape breeding, and the first thing he will do is cross the disease resistant Norton grape with the disease susceptible Cabernet Sauvignon grape. He will grow lots of offspring from that cross in order to work on a genetic map of Norton.
