Congressman Eric Burlison, along with his Chief of Staff Aaron Calkins and staff members Steve Helms and Jered Taylor visited the Fruit Experiment Station today. They were welcomed by Missouri State University Executive Vice President Zora Mulligan, Darr College of Agriculture Interim Dean Dr. Melissa Bledsoe and Department Head Dr. Chin-Feng Hwang and numerous faculty, staff and students. Jennifer Morganthaler gave a presentation on the history of the fruit station and current research, then Jeremy Emery and Shelia Long provided the group with a sample of some MSU wines and spirits. The group then proceeded to tour the winery and distillery, the research fields where Jennifer and Dr. Pszczolkowski spoke about the current research and plantings. The group ended the day with a stop at the greenhouses where Susanne Howard and Sylvia Petersen spoke about the greenhouses and the National Clean Plant Network and the work being done by Dr. Qiu and his team.
