The Springfield Police Department (SPD) is investigating a report of a motor vehicle accident that occurred near the intersection of Grand & National Avenue. The accident occurred just after 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 1. The SPD officers arrived and found a vehicle that had crashed near Grand and National Avenue. Inside the vehicle, they found an individual with a gunshot wound. The SPD closed the intersections of Bear & National and Grand & National to investigate the accident. During the investigation, the SPD learned that a shooting occurred at a location in north Springfield. The accident occurred while the occupants of the crashed vehicle were transporting the victim to the hospital.
