What’s that? A 42% response rate?!?

In an attempt to reach students who might need a bit of support to stay the course this semester, we are asking students to identify that need and use that information to connect them with whatever resources we can– academic, financial, health-related, or otherwise. We also wanted to make the process as fast and easy as possible, so we combined what we know about response rates with what we know about student behavior to make this happen. The result was a survey that went to more than 15,000 students that they could access through Blackboard instead of relying on email. And in the last week we have heard from more than 6,600 individuals.

That high response rate is considered a massive success in survey design and administration, but it’s especially important because it’s let us share students’ concerns with offices that can get in touch and provide assistance. It’s also been an excellent opportunity to share their shout-outs to faculty and staff they’ve found particularly helpful in the last few weeks and let them know they’re appreciated. Thanks to everyone who took the time to respond!
