Even with the late frost and cold temperatures the peach trees still needed to be thinned this year. We decided not to mechanically thin them since about 30% of the buds had damage. I saw a few instances of phomopsis on grapes and hope to get the fungicide sprays on this week. It has rained quite a bit and has made it difficult to apply pesticides. I also saw hail damage on most of the grapes, but nothing too serious. The raspberries were rotated into the high tunnel on May 1, earlier than last year, but they are further in development compared to last year and we see flower buds on the earlier cultivars. There was hail and high winds with lots of rain on Saturday. We saw unprecedented flooding in Mountain Grove and the surrounding areas.
