We’ve got mushrooms!

Here are the mushrooms growing out of the holes we made in the bags.

I checked the oyster mushroom bags this morning and found mushrooms coming out of the bags! I was worried earlier in the week and sent some photos to Lindsey of Field and Forest Products on Tuesday and she said that I would see them soon from the looks of it. Microgreens Planted In Greenhouse Today

Microgreens were planted in the greenhouse today for the Greenhouse and High Tunnel Workshop Demonstration.  Today's planting was a small "trial run" consisting of Mild Micro Mix, Spicy Micro Mix and Hong Vit Radish seed from Johnny's Selected Seed and Chrysanthemum Greens from Kitazawa Seed Co. Squash planted in field today

Tom uses the bedder to be featured in the technical products section of the fall workshop.

We planted squash in a field next to the high tunnel in order to include it in the demonstration plantings for the Greenhouse and High Tunnel Workshop. Mushroom bags prepared for fruiting today

Karly and Makayla line the shelves with chicken wire to better support the mushroom bags.

We put holes in the mushroom bags today for hopefully the mushrooms to grow out of. We have installed a light in our Shroom Room that is timed to stay on from 6 am to 6 pm. The mushrooms are positively phototrophic and will reach for the lights. Dr. D. K. Elderberry Harvest Began July 19th

The field crew began harvesting elderberries last week.  Once harvested the berries are sent through the shaker to remove them from the stem.  Weights are taken on the berries and they are frozen for processing later in the season.  Persimmon Hill Farms processes the berries for us into Elderberry Syrup, Juice and Preserves. … [Read more...] about Elderberry Harvest Began July 19th
