Position Summary
The Graduate Assistant-Marketing is responsible for coordinating advertising, marketing, and promotions for Campus Recreation programs, events and services.
Supervision
Reports to the Associate Director of Campus Recreation
Essential Functions
- Maintain the Campus Recreation website and keep up to date on website design and appearance.
- Develop and create a marketing plan to promote, enhance and develop interest in programs, services, and facilities offered by Campus Recreation.
- Coordinate promotions and marketing needs for all areas within Campus Recreation.
- Seek feedback from Campus Recreation staff regarding print and web materials.
- Supervises the Web/Video and Graphic Design student employees. Delegates tasks and provides timely feedback regarding performance and project deadlines.
- Keep current with computer technology and software including design software (i.e., WebPress, Adobe Creative Suite, and InDesign) needed to develop promotional materials both in print and digital media.
- Maintain inventory of printing supplies and equipment. Request supplies and/or equipment, as needed.
- Ensure graphic design software is current.
- Incorporate and maintain web and social media outlets (i.e. Facebook, Twitter) for promotions and advertising.
- Plan promos for Campus Recreation programs and insure promotional materials are current.
- Research and assist in the purchase of promotional items.
- Assist with other duties assigned.
Other Responsibilities
- Assist with special projects and assignments as requested.
- Attend all required meetings: division and department-wide.
- Serve on internal and University committees, as needed.
Education, Experience, and Skills Required
- Must meet all requirements outlined in the Graduate Assistantship contract signed at the beginning of the year.
- Technological expertise and design experience is preferred.
- Good communication, customer service, organization, and leadership skills.
- Required to work up to 20 hours per week.
- Report to work two weeks prior to the start of the fall semester; report one week prior to the start of spring semester. Summer semester is not required, but highly encouraged.
