Dean’s Office
- Stephanie Bryant, College of Business Dean, was recognized on the Biz100 list published this fall by Biz417 magazine. Biz 100 is a recognition and celebration of the most influential business leaders in southwest Missouri.
- Xiao’ou (Sean) Gong, China programs specialist, was recognized for 5 years of service to the University at the annual Staff Service Awards program held earlier this month.
- Vickie Hicks, corporate relations specialist, was recognized for 15 years of service to the University at the annual Staff Service Awards program held earlier this month.
- Jason Speer, distributed user support specialist, was recognized for 5 years of service to the University at the annual Staff Service Awards program held earlier this month.
- Alisa D. Trotter, assistant director of the Business Advisement Center, was recognized for 20 years of service to the University at the annual Staff Service Awards program held earlier this month.
School of Accountancy
- The Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants, MSCPA, has named Michael Hammond their 2016 Impact Award Winner for Outstanding Educator. Hammond, senior instructor, was honored in St. Louis, Missouri on November 17 during the MSCPA Awards Celebration.
Finance and General Business
- The Southwestern Finance Association recognized James Philpot, associate professor, as Outstanding Educator of the Year 2017.
Management
- Rayanna Anderson, entrepreneurship coordinator and community liaison, was recognized for 25 years of service to the University at the annual Staff Service Awards program held earlier this month.
Technology and Construction Management
- Nadine Jones, academic administrative assistant II, was recognized for 15 years of service to the University at the annual Staff Service Awards program held earlier this month.
Research
Finance and General Business
- Carol Miller, distinguished professor, recently published an article titled, “FTC Environmental Marketing Guides: Clarify Attributes,” in the Journal of the Missouri Bar. Her co-author Ross Petty, marketing law scholar at Babson, was previously an FTC attorney.
- James Scott, assistant professor, will participate in the MBAA International Conference this March to present four papers to two organizations. The Journal of Accounting and Finance has accepted and will release Scott’s article “Examining Radr as a Valuation Method in Capital Budgeting.”
Marketing
- Barry Cobb, associate professor, published the article “Lead Time Uncertainty and Supply Chain Coordination in Lost Sales Inventory Models” in the International Journal of Inventory Research (Vol. 3, Issue 1, pp. 5-30).
- Cobb was an invited speaker at the Center for Business Analytics Research seminar at the University of Kansas where he presented a “Bayesian Network Model for Quality Control with Categorical Attribute Data.”
- Seth Cockrell, assistant professor, will be presenting a coauthored paper at the 3rd Annual Organizational Frontlines Research Symposium (Co-sponsored by AMA, Sheth Foundation and Marketing Science Institute) on February 17th in Orlando, FL. The paper is titled “Managing the Salesforce through Product Harm Crises: The Dark Side of Customer Orientation.
- Wes Friske, assistant professor, presented a coauthored paper at the 2016 AMA Summer Educators Conference. The paper is titled “Developing Sustainable Innovation Capabilities: The Roles of Innovation Assets, Top Management Innovation Commitment, and Marketing Department Power.” Wes also chaired a session track, at the conference, titled “Brands, Products, and Promotions.”
- Alex Hamwi, associate professor, had his manuscript titled “The Role of Emotions on Frontline Employee Turnover,” accepted for publication in the Journal of Marketing Theory and Practice.
- Hamwi coauthored two recent articles accepted for publication. The first article, titled “Absolute vs. Relative Sales Failure,” appeared in the Journal of Business Research, Winter 2016. The second, titled “Impact of Mentoring and Mentor Source on Salesperson Multi-faceted Job Satisfaction,” will be published in the Marketing Management Journal.
- Jackson Li, assistant professor, attended the November INFORMS Annual Meeting and Conference in Nashville, Tennessee where he presented his coauthored article abstract titled “A Stochastic Joint Replenishment Problem with Dissimilar Items.”
- Li also coauthored a paper accepted for publication in the International Journal of Production Economics, titled “Optimizing Inventories Contribution to Profitability in a Regulated Market.”
- Marketing professors, Christina Simmers and Charles Hermans had an article, titled “Marketing Mission: The Divergence in Missiological Thought between Pastors and Missionary Leadership”, published in the International Bulletin of Mission Research (V40, N3, 2016).
- Jenifer Skiba, assistant professor, coauthored an article, published in the Journal of Business Research, titled “The Effect of Managerial Cost Prioritization on Sales Force Turnover”.
Technology and Construction Management
- The Missouri State University Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning (FCTL) has recently awarded $5,000 to a team consisting of Amir Behzadan, TCM associate professor, and Rebecca Baker and Sakidja Ridwan (both from the Physics, Astronomy, and Materials Science Department) to conduct a Curriculum Innovation research project titled “Immersive Virtual Reality Technologies for Introductory Physics Education” this spring.
- A research article by Amir Behzadan, associate professor, titled “Collaborative Visualization of Engineering Processes Using Tabletop Augmented Reality”, published in the Elsevier Journal of Advances in Engineering Software was selected as a top five “highly cited paper” by the publication.
