Good to know: Communicating with students through your Blackboard course

January 20, 2022 by Chuck Busby

Missouri State University Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning

The announcements tool on the home page of your Blackboard course is a convenient way to communicate with the students in your class. Students will see course announcements on the home page when they log in and you can also choose to send a copy of the announcement message as an email to students MSU’s Live account. Two communication channels for the same message!

Communicating with students is an important function of your Blackboard courses and announcements is the entry point of the course when using one of the Blackboard courses templates. You can rename this tool on the course menu but if you remove this communication tool you will be altering students’ entry point into the course, and this could prevent them from accessing the course and viewing important information from their instructor.

If you are unable to access the announcements tool, or may have deleted announcements from the course menu, contact the Help Desk for support.
