Information Services Planned Upgrade Day

Routine upgrades to the University’s mission critical networks and information systems are necessary to provide reliable and secure technology-related services.  These upgrade activities are scheduled for times when the disruption to the University community are minimized.  Plan accordingly, as the University’s networks and information systems will be unavailable during the upgrade period.

  • August 10, 2019 from 12:01 a.m. – 12:20 a.m. – Internet on campus will be unavailable, as we do an upgrade to the internet firewall.
  • August 10, 2019 from 8:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. – University networks and the majority of information systems will be unavailable.  The Information Services team is moving critical services to a more reliable hosting environment, moving systems to faster hardware for performance improvement, and implementing additional network segmentation for added security.

Banner Available

Banner Outage

We are shutting down the Banner Production database to run some diagnostic checks now in an effort to resolve the reported issues.  We expect there to be some downtime and we will work to get PROD back up and running as soon as possible.

Computer Services personnel will verify the system when service is restored.  Please let us know of any further issues.

Critical Fixes in PROD tonight

The critical security fixes have been completed and Self Service Banner 8 has been verified. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me directly at staceytune@missouristate.edu.

Information Services needs to install some critical security fixes on the Banner PRODUCTION environment tonight, Tuesday, July 23 from 8:00 PM – 11:00 PM. The server affected is Self Service Banner 8. There will be no impact to other systems such as: Faculty Grade Entry, SSB 9, university networks, phone systems, main websites, Blackboard, Office 365, email services, CashNet, video surveillance systems, electronic door access systems, and the application for admission.

Computer Services personnel will verify that all systems are functioning normally after the fixes are applied.

Planned Banner Upgrade

To maintain the University’s technology infrastructure at the level required to ensure reliable and secure delivery of services and technologies, Information Services will be applying updates to the Banner environment on Sunday morning, July 21, 2019.

On July 21, 2019, the following systems will be upgraded and therefore unavailable:

  • 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. – Banner will not be available.

There will be no impact to other systems such as: University networks, phone systems, main websites, Blackboard, Office 365, email services, CashNet, video surveillance systems, electronic door access systems, and the application for admission.
